Books, books, books!

Ok, so I’m reading 3 books at once.  I need to stop and focus on one because I keep re-reading what I read to keep everything straight.

I am reading the first Harry Potter book.  I decided if I jumped on the Twilight bandwagon, why not Harry Potter?  My brother gave me this for Christmas b/c he remembered I said something to him about reading Harry Potter awhile ago.  He remembered and got me started on my first book.

I am also reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.  I actually got all 3 books from the series for my birthday from my bro-in-law and sis-in-law.

And I’m reading One Day by David Nicholls .  I think I saw something about it in a magazine awhile ago.  I know they are making a movie.  I had a Barnes and Noble gift card burning a hole in my pocket.  So I bought that because the lead character’s name is Emma.  That’s all it takes for me to buy your book.

I’ve been bad about posting what I have already read.  I can’t really remember everything since I last posted about books.  But I do remember…

The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell– This book is about Carrie, the lead character of Sex and the City, before she moved to New York.  Carrie’s high school years.  Candace Bushnell really has Carrie’s character nailed down.  I can see Sarah Jessica Parker acting every second of the book.  I liked  imagining Carrie as a 18 year old in the 80s.  It’s a fun read if you’re a SATC fan.

And I have read America: The Story of Us.  It’s actually a companion of the DVD that the History Channel put out.  The series aired, I believe, last spring.  I was hooked.  I even got Scott hooked.  We DVRed it so he could watch it with me.  It shows the history of America with acted out scenes.  No black and white pictures and commentary.  I loved it. I snapped up the book and read it cover to cover.

It’s probably one of the best series I’ve seen. Ever.
The DVD is better than the book.  I hope every history teacher out there shows this in class.
