Hi, I’m Bug. Ok, not really. It’s Julie. Bug is just a nickname.
I am married to a man I call Pookie – he likes to be called Scott. I have two funny little girls, Emma and Kate. I started this blog in 2009 as a way to document the lives of my children. Turns out, we laugh a lot. And I love to write about it.
Welcome to my amusing blog.
Here is some stuff that nobody really cares about but I’m telling you anyway – you know, to paint a picture of me or whatever. Maybe we have something in common:
- I can burp really, really loud.
- I rarely shave my legs in the winter.
- I love the history channel.
- My favorite condiment is tabasco sauce.
- I really do floss my teeth every night.
- I can’t stand ice in my drinks. Room temp water is where it’s at.
- I am clueless about fashion. I eavesdrop on high schoolers in clothing stores to see what’s hip.
- I don’t know how to cook. This is NOT a food blog.
- I talk about poop way too much.
- Do not talk to me before 10 am. I answer in grunts.
- Born and raised in the Kansas City area. I’m a K-State graduate (Bachelor of Arts in Communications). I’m a die-hard KSU fan and avid sports fan in general. I have never complained to Pookie about ESPN being on all the time. Really. Ask him.
Some of my favorite posts:
Emma got in trouble at school.
I swear this only happens to me.
I like nice people and nice emails:

julie,
I love the story about
Emma. She will be a leader with her peers and not a follower! You are a good writer.
maybe you should contact the kc star and help write the moms to moms section.
whoa. we have a lot in common: 1. i love KSU 2. i burp A LOT and really loud, 3. i also can’t stand ice in my drinks, and 4. i talk about poop way, way, way too much. unfortunately i majored in fashion in college and i’m a pretty good cook, but what does that matter! your blog is hilarious
love the story about emma and the jayhawk!
Just now responding!
please forgive me….
Yes! All you gotta do now is give me fashion advice
as i’m sure you’ll find a huge spike in visitors to your site, following the hilarious and awesome jayhawk coloring story on yahoo, that is how i made my way here. i would normally have left after reading the full story about emma and the coloring incident, but decided to read a couple more. and, i gotta say, they’re hilarious. they’re especially hilarious to me because my wife and i have a daughter and a second one on the way. i can only imagine a very similar life in our household in a couple of years. love the family dynamic you all have going on…sounds very familiar! congrats and enjoy!
Thanks for reading! and congrats on the baby! ….which I’m sure you’ve had by now because I’m late in responding
My childhood friend in KC forwarded the KC Star piece about your daughter’s refusal to color the Jayhawk (yea Emma!). I live in NJ now but am Kansas born and raised and a former K-Stater (class ’71). Found the story hilarious and thought you’d be interested to know that your daughter’s fame has now spread well beyond the Midwest….clearly a very bright little girl! Sheryl G.
Hi Bug/Julie,
CNN would be interested in using your pics for a piece we are doing on Kansas State Uni.
We would be happy to courtesy credit you/your site. Our standard broadcast needs are for use in the story context on all CNN networks & affiliates, all media worldwide?
Many thanks in advance.

I nominated your blog for the Liebster Award because I’m spreading the love this week. If you’re interested, here’s the link back to it. If not, that’s just peachy-I am just trying to spread the word about the blogs I read and enjoy!

That’s awesome! Thank you so much!!
You’re welcome. I enjoy your posts a lot!
Because I enjoy your blog very much, I have nominated you for some blog awards. I’ve already messed up all the rules so you can play them any way you want. Some folks aren’t into these types of awards, and I understand that too. I just wanted to share my appreciation for your work with others.

Are you one of those really petite women who burps freakishly loud? I’m related to several and it’s quite amusing and disgusting at the same time. Good for you for flossing nightly, you have a great smile. I look forward to reading more of your blog.
Haha no, not petite. I’m 5’9″ But I do burp freakishly loud. Thanks for reading!!
